How They're Made

A 4th-generation craft

This skill has been passed down through four generations of one family. No molds, no machines, just a needle, beeswax and patience.

1. Shape & wax

Each form is coated in a warm layer of beeswax and resin that holds every bead.

2. Bead by bead

Tiny glass seed beads are pressed in one at a time, with patterns worked freehand.

3. 8 to 48 hours

Small figures take a full day. Large pieces take days of focused work.
